Mega Staraptor makes its debut on September 19th, from 2 PM to 5 PM local time. This is your chance to catch a powerful new Mega Evolution with special bonuses. Trainers can enjoy a boosted 1/10 shiny rate for Staraptor, and any Staraptor caught from these raids will have Mega Level 1 already unlocked, saving you initial Mega Energy!
When Mega Evolved, Staraptor drops its Normal typing and becomes a Fighting/Flying type. It boasts impressive stats: Max CP 4498, Attack 278, Defense 207, and HP 198. While its new Fighting typing might seem promising, it currently lacks a Fighting-type fast attack, limiting its utility as a top Fighting attacker. However, as a Flying-type raid attacker, Mega Staraptor is the 5th best at its base Mega Level, with its performance improving further as its Mega Level increases with Brave Bird Plus.
Mega Staraptor, as a Fighting/Flying type, is weak to Electric, Ice, and Rock-type attacks. To maximize your damage output, assemble a team of top-tier counters: Zekrom, Mega Ampharos, and Shadow Raikou are excellent Electric choices. For Ice, White Kyurem, Shadow Articuno, and Glaceon will dominate. If you prefer Rock, Shadow Rhyperior, Mega Diancie, Mega Aerodactyl, and Mega Tyranitar are your go-to mons.
Beyond the shiny rate and Mega Level unlock, trainers can receive up to six free raid passes from spinning Gyms (plus one from the previous day for a total of seven). You can also use Link Charges to join raids for free. The remote raid limit will be increased to 20 from September 18th at 5 PM PDT until September 19th at 8 PM PDT, allowing for extensive remote raiding. Make the most of your free passes and Link Charges to hunt for that perfect Staraptor!
For dedicated trainers, securing a perfect IV Staraptor is a top priority. A hundo Staraptor from raids will have 1614 CP, or 2018 CP if caught during boosted weather conditions. Don't waste time calculating IVs in-game. Use Hundo Hunter to quickly scan your catches and identify that perfect 4-star mons, ensuring you invest your candy and Stardust wisely.
