Tier list

Same data the iOS app uses. Pick a mode, filter by type, search for a name. Movesets shown next to the entry are the recommended set per community consensus — bested by the iOS app's per-mon detail view.

How the mons GO tier list reads

A tier list compresses dozens of spreadsheet variables — base stats, move counts, energy gain, type STAB, role versatility — into one letter from S to F. Useful for spending stardust and XL candy where it earns the most return. The list here pulls from three community sources, reconciles them toward consensus, and surfaces by type so you can answer "who's the best Fire attacker right now" in one click.

What S, A+, A actually mean

S-tier: top three or so in role at this moment. A+: very close to S, often with a more accessible movepool. A: top-10 picks, still worth investing if you don't have S/A+. Below A the gap widens fast — a B-tier raid attacker costs the same dust as an S-tier but takes 30-40 % longer to win the same raid.

Filtering by your collection

The static tier list is a meta map. The iOS app overlays your actual catches and tells you which of your mons are A-tier or above per type. That's the difference between "Rayquaza is best" and "you have a 96 % IV Rayquaza, here's how to power it up to its tier."

FAQ

What's the difference between attacker, defender, and Max-battle tier lists?

Attackers are ranked by DPS × time-to-faint in raids and gym attacks — Mewtwo and Rayquaza dominate. Defenders are ranked by total damage absorbed before fainting in gyms — Blissey and Slaking are the classic picks. Max-battle tier ranks Dynamax / Gigantamax performance specifically, which has its own move pool and damage formula. Filter by mode at the top of the page.

How often does the tier list update?

The underlying data refreshes whenever a new move drops, a new mega evolution arrives, or a community vote shifts a placement on the source lists (Pokebattler, GamePress, TheSilphRoad). The aggregator on our side re-pulls weekly and reconciles disagreements toward the majority consensus, so a freshly-released Tier S mons appears within ~7 days.

Why is a Shadow mons sometimes ranked higher than its regular form?

Shadow mons get a 1.2× attack multiplier (but 0.833× defence). For pure-attacker roles that's a 20 % DPS boost — enough to push Shadow Machamp above many other Fighting attackers despite the squishier stat block. The list applies the modifier when ranking.

Which type should I invest in first?

Pick types that double up against the current raid rotation. Ice and Rock are perennial value because Dragons and Flying-types are common bosses. Dark crushes the recurring Mewtwo / Latias / Latios raid days. The in-app raid screen surfaces this automatically — pulls your collection, intersects with the active raid pool, suggests where to invest first.

Does the tier list account for movesets?

Yes — placement assumes the mons has access to its meta-recommended move pair. A Charizard with Fire Spin + Blast Burn is S-tier in Fire; a Charizard with Wing Attack + Dragon Claw isn't. If you lack the move, run an Elite TM check; the tool flags mons that need a legacy move to perform at the listed tier.
