Brand new to the game, with a possible Great League niche — though its moves may still change before release. Green is Eastern-Hemisphere only and Blue is Western-Hemisphere only, so it is worth grabbing one of each regional color for the dex.

Team GO Rocket takeover

From June 25, Giovanni carries Shadow Reshiram — the 3rd best fire-type attacker overall and the best non-Mega fire-type. The Super Rocket Radar from the GO Pass is how you track him down. The Go Points cap also lifts June 27–29, which is the ideal stretch to finish the GO Pass.

Catch priority
  1. 1
    Corviknight

Great League rank 21, Ultra League rank 5, and one of the best Max Battle tanks. The highest-priority catch of the event.

  2. 2
    Altaria

Great League rank 2 — an elite pick for that league.

  3. 3
    Fearow

    Great League rank 22.

  4. 4
    Staraptor

28th best flying attacker now; a future Mega pushes it to roughly 5th best overall.

  5. 5
    Mandibuzz

Great League rank 71, Ultra League rank 101.

  6. 6
    Braviary

38th best flying attacker — a budget option. Note that Unova Braviary is the better of the two (31st).

  7. 7
    Squawkabilly

New to the dex — grab one of each available color.

Lowest priority: Hoothoot · Wattrel · Bombirdier
Raid priority
  1. 1
    Kartana

2nd best grass-type attacker in the game and the best non-Mega grass attacker, so you can field multiples. Master League rank 83. The #1 raid target of the event.

  2. 2
    Dialga

9th best dragon attacker, 7th best steel attacker, Master League rank 37. Its candy fuels Origin Dialga’s Roar of Time adventure effect, so this is almost always worth raiding.

  3. 3
    Necrozma

Caveat: fusion energy comes from fusion raids, NOT these Necrozma raids. Raid these only for candy, shiny, or high-IV hunting.

  4. 4
    Scizor

5th best bug-type attacker. Bug is niche, but you bank extra bug and steel candy.

  5. 5
    Pidgeot

    13th best flying-type attacker.

  6. 6
    Celesteela

No meta relevance — raid only for the shiny or the dex entry.

Maximize Candy

Hit GO Pass rank 10 as soon as you can for 2× catch Candy. With that bonus a Pinap Berry gives 12 Candy per catch and a Silver Pinap gives 14.

Mega-evolve a mon sharing a type with what you are catching for extra Candy, Candy XL, and XP. For a flying event, the standout is Dragonite.

Trading helps too: the June monthly GO Pass rank 1 grants +1 Candy and 1 guaranteed Candy XL per trade.

Stardust timing
  • Wingull Spotlight Hour on June 25, 18:00–19:00 gives 2× catch Stardust — pop a Star Piece for it.
  • Frigibax Community Day on June 20 gives 3× catch Stardust — see the Frigibax guide
  • Anniversary event July 4–6 gives 4× catch Stardust — the best multiplier of the bunch.
