Triggers for "special": one of the two mons is Legendary, Mythical, Shiny, regional exclusive (relative to the other player), or a form the trader doesn't have. Lucky and Pokédex-completion trades all qualify.
You can only do one Special Trade per day. Plan ahead — checking the Hundo Hunter trade calc before each trade saves dust and avoids accidental hundo-loss (trading a hundo costs the hundo status post-trade IV reroll).
